Discipline = Freedom 🥲

At least that's what I thought for a long time… but it's simply not true.

Discipline = k * a^n

k represents our initial level of discipline

a represents the rate at which our discipline decays over time

n represents the number of times we resist our desires over time

This is a losing game that will lead to suffering

The more we resist our desires, the higher the value of n, and the slower our discipline will decay over time.

Conversely, the fewer times we resist our desires, the lower the value of n, and the faster our discipline will decay.

To increase our level of discipline over time, we need to consistently resist our desires, saying "no" to them whenever they arise.

This will increase the value of n over time, and in turn, slow down the decay rate of our discipline represented by the factor a.

By consistently resisting our desires, we can increase our level of discipline and maintain it. This requires effort and consistency.

Now discipline is great and can help you achieve anything. The problem is that depending on our internal states the consistency might be difficult due to the nature of it: a losing game.

A solution would be to build an autonomous self and use a system that can avoid relying on our discipline and put us on autopilot.

This is not a new trend but the next generation of human beings but it's going to be for another post.
